Garden Lighting

Welcome to Garden Light Shop Information Website

Why install garden lighting?

When you have decided that you want more atmosphere in the garden by means of garden lighting, it is advisable to be well informed beforehand. Garden lighting comes in many shapes and sizes and has various properties. For example, do you opt for a system that you can easily install yourself or do you hire an electrician? Do you want lamps that have a fixed light intensity or do you prefer a bit more variety? Do you choose 220 volts or 12 volts? These are all elements that come into play when purchasing garden lighting.

Initially, garden lighting is often intended to give your garden more atmosphere. Is it primarily atmosphere or is it primarily safety? Beautiful wall lamps, attractive spots or stylish standing lighting give the garden a beautiful appearance and complete the whole. An image, plant or tree that is beautifully lit in the evening allows you to enjoy your garden even more. If you sit outside in the evening, but also if you look outside from the inside.

Garden lighting can also give you a sense of security and convenience. With the right lighting you see just that little bit more. Throwing something away in the evening or a lamp that comes on when you come home gives you a lot more security. No more bumping into something or stepping next to the path: you see everything clearly. In addition, burglars prefer to work in the dark, so they will rather skip your house.

Wide Choice Of Garden Lighting

The reason why and where you want to place garden lighting largely determines which type of light you choose. A wall lamp, for example, is intended to illuminate the facade/fence/wall/next to the front door and provides light upwards, downwards or around. A motion sensor can also be connected to it, so that the wall lamp switches on when someone walks past. Spotlights are often placed to highlight plants or a specific object. Objects will stand out even more when they are lit with a spotlight. Post lights, also called pillar lights, are often placed along a path or in several places in the garden for safety and extra atmosphere. At Garden Light Shop there is a wide choice of many types of garden lighting. From wall lamps and post lights, to spotlights, uplights and decklights.

Smart garden lighting is one of the latest developments and transforms every garden. With the app specially developed for this purpose, the garden lights are controlled remotely and a timer can also be set. With Smart Lights you can create zones and scenes to great effect. Smart Lights also have colour changing and dimming capability. Ensuring you always have the right light effect.

Do it yourself or outsource it?

Installing garden lighting is not the same for every type of garden lighting. Traditional garden lighting, for example, uses 220 volts. With 220v lighting you have to pay attention to safety. They should only be installed by a qualified electrician and 220v cables need to e buried 50cm below ground for safety. This makes for a very in-flexible system that you, the garden owner cannot modify without calling the electrician back.

Low voltage garden lighting, such as our Garden Lights, works on safe 12 volts. This provides a totally safe system that is children and animal friendly. Installation is much easier as this garden lighting system is plug and play and therefore you can easily do it yourself. After all, the cables do not have to go into the ground, making installtion easier and quicker. In no time at all you can start to enjoy an attractive illuminated garden. What do you choose?

Privacy Policy Notice

Privacy Policy Notice

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) 2016 replaces the EU Data Protection Directive of 1995 and supersedes the laws of all individual member states. Its purpose is to protect the “rights and freedoms” of natural persons (living individuals) and to ensure that personal data is not processed without their knowledge and, wherever possible, that it is processed only with their consent. Contact 19 Ltd (the owners of gardenlightshop.com) take these regulations very seriously and have prepared the following privacy policy to inform you of how your data is used, how to request data we hold about you and how to have your data deleted (where legally possible).

Under the guidelines this explanation should be as informative and written in “layman’s terms” rather than technical terms, to make them as transparent as reasonably possible to anybody reading them.

Company Privacy Statement

As a company we take the security of people’s data very seriously. We have never held data that we didn’t need legally (for HMRC regulations), that we needed to successfully facilitate an order, a newsletter signup or that we needed to guarantee a warranty. If we don’t need it, we simply don’t take it in the first place. If we no longer need it, we delete it.

Cookies

HTTP Cookies are small files stored by a website on your computer for a short period. They are designed to hold small snippets of data. Under GDPR, it is important to not only allow you to consent to this information being held, but to also explain our cookie use.

Necessary Cookies

Our site uses session cookies, also known as transient cookies. Web pages have no memory and with multiple people using the site at the same time, it is necessary for the website to be able to identify each user as an individual. Session cookies take no information from your computer and are removed when the browser is closed.

Functional Cookies

Functional cookies, as the name suggests, are used to aid the websites functionality. So for example if a site has multiple language options or currency options (both pre-set on this site) functional cookies will remember these settings. They are used for things like basket and login scripts. Without them you would have to log in every time you left each page or re-add things to your cart. Functional cookies on this website last 10 days before being removed. This gives you plenty of time to plan your lighting without having to keep starting again should you close the website by accident or shoes to continue at a later time.

Analytical Cookies

Analytical cookies are used to help us monitor the site. In the real world a shop owner would physically see what items their customers are interested in as well as gathering feedback face to face. Electronically this isn’t possible, so using analytics allows us the opportunity to continually improve areas of the site that are less popular, whether it be adding more information, better imagery or even things like video. It also helps make sure that important information is being seen by making these areas more prominent.

We us Google analytics for our monitoring. The GA Terms of Use prohibit any personal information being sent to Google including any data that could permanently identify a user. As this is the case, it is impossible to selectively delete a single user’s data. As we would not be able to determine your personal data from any of the monitoring ascertained.

All of our cookies cannot be turned off, by accepting our cookie policy, you are agreeing to the cookies being used for the above purposes.

  • Name
  • Delivery address and billing address
  • Email address
  • Phone number
  • Products you have ordered

These details are used to send your parcel via our chosen courier (DPD) or via royal mail. By law, these details are kept on our system for 6 years to meet current UK HM Revenue & Customs rules.

If you would like any information about what personal data is stored, then please contact us via your “My account” panel. To view your account details, simply log in.

If you have any questions about this process, please contact us.

Online Payments

When purchasing your goods from our website, all online payments are either dealt with by Worldpay or Paypal. All payments are handled by these companies on their own platforms with none of your payment details ever being handled by aby of our systems.

We simply send your chosen payment option, your order id, name and address as well as how much is to be paid. They send us a response regarding whether your purchase was successful or failed. No financial details are ever seen or held by us.

Phone Orders

When placing a phone order, as well as taking your name, address, email, phone number and order, we will also take your payment details. These details are simply used by us to make the payment via Lloyds Cardnet. Your financial details are hand written on a ‘phone order’ payment form and shredded immediately after your payment has been completed. Your financial details are never added or stored anywhere on our computer system.

Again though under current HMRC laws, your actual order (invoice) will be maintained for six years on our database.

Contact Us

The contact us form generates an email which is sent to our customer services team. It also creates an entry in the administration section of the website. This allows our team to monitor if your query is being dealt with by another team member and the status of your query (complete / ongoing).

The details held are:

  • Name
  • Email address
  • Message
  • Time of email

This information is only used to help answer your query and not used or shared anywhere else. Once we are happy that your query has been dealt with, these entries are deleted.

These details are only held to enable us to send you the newsletter.

To be removed from receiving a newsletter immediately, simply follow the instructions at the bottom of every single newsletter we send. Your details will continue to be held on the mailchimp system, ensuring that you can’t be accidentally re-added to the list.

If you would like to be permanently removed, please email us requesting removal.

Feefo

We use Feefo for all of our reviews. It’s important that a third party is used as a review service as it means that reviews can’t be influenced in anyway by the company being reviewed. This means for example, that you can trust that our 4.9 / 5 independent service rating* is genuine.

*correct at time of writing

To facilitate this service, all orders generate the following information that is sent securely to Feefo.

  • Order reference
  • Products ordered
  • Email address of customer

This information is only used to email a review request.

Summary

If you have any further questions about what data is stored, why it is stored, if it can be deleted or how to delete it, please contact us.

It should be noted that due to the ever increasing tightening of regulations concerning the storing of data, it is more important than ever to keep your invoice. This will help us speed up the process of any potential warranty claims.
